BETHEL — Zack Hill belted a two-out, bases loaded two-run single in the sixth inning to give Telstar a 9-8 victory over Wiscasset in MVC baseball action Wednesday.
Reliever Tanner Wheeler picked up the mound win after shutting the Wolverines down in the final two frames. Hunter Williamson, Chris Chappie and Michael Dougherty chipped in with multiple hits for Telstar (1-5) in a well-rounded attack.
Wiscasset was paced by Grant Hefler, Daren Wood and Logan Orr with two hits each.
Oak Hill 15, Mt. Abram 1
WALES — Kaleb Morrissette scattered three hits in four innings and received ample run support as Oak Hill raced away to a 15-1 win over Mt. Abram in MVC baseball action Wednesday.
Dalton Therrien and Jake Bannister led the Raiders (3-3) with two hits and four RBIs apiece. Morrissette helped his cause with two hits and two RBIs.
The Roadrunners (1-5) were paced by Chris Howard, who belted an RBI single that plated Matt May.
Poland 6, Lake Region 5
POLAND — Poland rallied for three runs in the fifth inning Wednesday and hung on to post narrow 6-5 victory over Lake Region in a WMC baseball matchup.
Ethan Callier and Patrick Kuklinski led the Knights (2-6) with two hits and two RBIs apiece, while Adam Mocciola and Kaleb Banker also plated runs.
The Lakers (1-4) were paced by Jordan Williams with three hits and four RBIs.
Lisbon 8, Hall-Dale 4
LISBON — Noah Francis tagged three hits and garnered two runs and two RBIs to lead Lisbon to an 8-4 victory over Hall-Dale in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.
The Greyhounds (5-1) bounced back from a 2-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. They shored things up in the bottom of the sixth frame with another three runs.
The Bulldogs (3-3) scored two unearned runs in the second inning for a brief 2-0 lead in the contest.

Bates headed to NESCAC baseball tournament
HADLEY, Mass. — Bates is returning to the NESCAC Baseball Championship for the second straight year since reaching the postseason for the first time a year ago.
The Bobcats made it into the postseason in dramatic fashion by winning three games against Trinity in the final divisional series of the season. Senior Nate Pajka has been on a tear heading into the weekend, belting four home runs and driving in 11 runs over the last five games.
In last year’s outing, Bates lost a close 4-3 decision to Wesleyan in the opening game. But, the Bobcats bounced back to defeat Amherst before being eliminated by Tufts.
Bates will be looking for an alternate fate in this year’s tournament. They face off against Wesleyan in the tournament opener at 3 pm on Friday afternoon.
Softball
Oak Hill 15, Mt. Abram 0
WALES — Mikayla Nadeau hurled five innings of one-hit ball and received ample run support as Oak Hill overpowered Mt. Abram, 15-0, in a MVC softball matchup.
Sadie Goulet led the Raiders (3-3) with three hits and three RBIs, while Emma Hlister belted out two hits with three RBIs. Jamie Prue also contributed with two hits and two RBIs, while Brooke Surette and Grace Sabine combined for five hits and two RBIs.
Katie Jordan went the distance for Mt. Abram (1-5) and suffered the loss.
Telstar 12, Wiscasset 0
BETHEL — Olivia York hurled five frames of no-hit ball Wednesday as Telstar shut down Wiscasset, 12-0, in MVC softball action.
Tehya Johnson led Jim Lunney’s undefeated Rebels (6-0) with a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Katie Nadeau and Vanessa Godwin also contributed with RBI singles for Telstar.
Tylan Oronato pitched her first varsity game for the Wolverines (1-5) and suffered the loss.
Dirigo 18, St. Dom’s 0
DIXFIELD — Megan Bradbury went 3-for-3 to lead Dirigo to an 18-0 rout over St. Dom’s in softball action Wednesday afternoon.
The Cougars (4-2) tore through the first inning with 10 runs before adding another eight in the third frame. Emma Lueders contributed two hits and three RBIs in the outing.
Maggie Kase paced the Saints (1-5) with a double and a walk.

Merrill Named NAC Player & Pitcher of Year
WHITINGHAM, Vt. — Husson softball senior Kayla Merrill of Bethel has been named the 2015 North Atlantic Conference Player & Pitcher of the Year.
Joining Kayla Merrill on the All-Conference First Team were Eagle teammates sophomore catcher Casey Lopes, junior shortstop Lyndsay Merrill of Bethel and senior outfielder Deb Colpitts, while sophomore infielder Nicole Andrade received Second Team All-Conference Honors.
Kayla Merrill has been a consistant force for the Eagles and has earned NAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Against conference opponents, the senior led the league or tied for the top in four offensive categories, including runs, hits, home runs and RBIs.
