LUBEC (AP) — A red-flag warning continues in Maine after fire crews battled a wildfire in the eastern part of the state.

Forest Ranger Jeff Currier tells WNSX-FM two fires were intentionally set in Lubec in eastern Maine. The fires spread over 60 acres Wednesday night.

Currier says it was obvious the fire was intentional and added there was another suspected arson spread to 2 acres in Cooper on Wednesday afternoon.

An investigation is ongoing.

The National Weather Service issues red flag warnings to let firefighters and land management agencies know conditions are ideal for starting wildfires and spreading them.
