AUGUSTA — A Minot man is facing 13 months in jail after pleading guilty to charges that he stole money that rightfully belonged to his disabled brother.
Fifty-two-year-old John Look of Minot became the legal guardian of his brother in 2008 after the death of their mother. The brother suffered a brain injury in a motorcycle accident as a teenager and resides at a treatment facility. Attorney General Janet Mills says Look deposited money from a trust in his brother’s name into his own checking account for personal use.
Look pleaded guilty to theft and misuse of entrusted property April 29. A judge sentenced him to six years with all but 13 months suspended and three years of probation. He must also pay $133,000 in restitution to his brother.
