LEWISTON — The Rev. Louis J. Fortier Council 106 received three awards at the recent Maine State Convention in April. 

The first award was in the Family Life Category, Division A, for a benefit that was held for Dianna with cancer raising more than $5,000 to help with her medical needs.

The second award also in the Family Life Category receiving the Supreme Award for a benefit held for Jimmy Roy needing a new kidney. The council raised more than $11,000 to help him with his medical expenses.

For the third award, the Rev. Louis J. Fourtier Council 106 was named the Maine State Council of The Year for 2014-2015.

The council also submitted a Charity Fund letter and was chosen to receive $2,500 for Aubury Coburn to help her family with medical bills. Coburn was born with a heart defect and had three surgeries by the age of 3 years old, and at the age of 4, she was diagnosed with Leukemia.

The Rev. Louis J. Fortier Council 106 formerly of 150 East Ave., is now meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of the Month at the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul on Bartlett Street in the Dominican Room.
