WISCASSET — Anthony Todd and Nick Hall’s RBI singles sparked a three-run four inning for Dirigo as they pulled away to post a 4-2 win over Wiscasset.
Todd led the Cougars (6-1) with two hits and one RBI, while Mitch Kubesh picked up the mound win.
Logan Orr led the Wolverines (3-4) with three hits in the contest.
Carrabec 8, Mountain Valley 4
RUMFORD — Williams Crawford led a group of four players with multiple hits and RBIs as Carrabec raced away to a 8-4 victory over Mountain Valley in an MVC baseball tilt Friday.
Crawford paced the Cobras (4-3) with three hits and two RBIs, while Tyler Deichert, Dylan Willette and Trent Richardson all belted out a pair of hits.
Josh Nathan led the Falcons (3-3) with two hits and one RBI, while relief pitcher Ian Austin contributed with three hits overall.
Monmouth 1, Oak Hill 0
MONMOUTH — Gage Cote scored on an infield error in the third inning Friday to give Monmouth a 1-0 win over Oak Hill in local baseball action.
With no extra base hits or even an athlete with two hits, this contest was a scoring stalemate. Chandler Harris three hits in seven innings to notch the shutout.
The Raiders (3-4) utilized Matt Arnold on the mound for all seven frames.
Lisbon 11, Madison 0
MADISON — RJ Sargeant and Kyle Bourget combined to hurl a no-hitter Friday as Lisbon shut down Madison, 11-0, in a lopsided MVC baseball tilt.
Bourget helped his own cause with two hits and two runs scored. Austin Fournier had one RBI on two hits, while Noah Frnacis and Nick Lerette each pounded out two hits.
Ryan Emery worked the first four frames for Madison and was tagged with the loss.
Oxford Hills 1, Messalonskee 0
OAKLAND — Junior left fielder Blake Slicer scored on a seventh inning balk to assist Oxford Hills in a 1-0 squeaker in KVAC baseball action Friday afternoon.
Coming off a no-hitter in his previous game, junior pitcher Bailey West picked up a shutout for the Vikings (7-1) in the nail bitter.
Slicer led off the seventh with a single and moved to second on a Brady LaFrance single. Following a double play that pushed the lead runner to third, the Eagles’ (6-1) pitcher committed a balk which plated Slicer.
Senior catcher Trevor Gettig had two of Messalonskee’s hits, including a double.
Winslow 14, Leavitt 3
WINSLOW — Dylan Hapworth had three hits as Winslow sailed to a 14-3 victory over Leavitt in baseball action Friday afternoon.
Leavitt pitcher Julian Kirouac recorded the only Hornet (2-5) extra base hit in the game with a double.
Adam Berard pitched into the fourth inning and earned the mound win for the Raiders (7-1). Brian Smith had two hits for Winslow.
Softball
Winthrop 25, St. Dom’s 7
AUBURN — Ashley Dunham scattered seven hits in five innings and drew ample run support as Winthrop overpowered St. Dom’s, 25-7, in a KVAC softball matchup Friday.
Kayliegh Oberg, Trisha Wilson, Lakin Conner and Mattilda Rice all had multiple hits for the Ramblers in a well-balanced offensive effort.
The Saints (1-5) were paced by Jasmyne Thornton with a pair of hits in the contest.
Oak Hill 10, Monmouth 3
MONMOUTH — Sadie Goulet scattered four hits in seven innings Friday as Oak Hill walked away from Monmouth, 10-3, in a MVC softball battle.
Brooke Surette led the Raiders (4-3) with two hits and two RBIs, while Emma Hlister also belted out two hits.
Katie Canning worked the first five frames for Monmouth (3-4) and suffered the loss.
Lisbon 9, Madison 7
LISBON — Kailyn Hill gave up five hits and walked three Friday as Lisbon got past Madison, 9-7, in MVC softball action.
Arianna Kahler led the Greyhounds with three hits and two RBIs, while Molly Nicholson and Taylor Poudre combined for four hits and five RBIs in a well-rounded effort.
Madison was paced by Kayla Bess with a two-run hone run in the fourth inning. Aly LeBlanc also contributed with an RBI triple.
Fryeburg 15, Cape Elizabeth 3
FRYEBURG — Senior short stop Kristan Chipman had three hits and four RBIs to lead Fryeburg to a comfortable 15-3 victory over Cape Elizabeth in WMC softball action Friday afternoon.
The Raiders (5-3) plated four runs in each of the first, second and fifth innings for the decided win.
Amanda Gillette produced a two-run triple in the fifth frame.
Junior second baseman Tess Haller paced the Capers (4-4) with two hits.
Winslow 6, Leavitt 2
WINSLOW — Hillary Libby launched a two-run home run in the fourth inning as Winslow cruised to a 6-2 victory over Leavitt in softball action Friday afternoon.
Morgan Knowlton roped a two-run triple to tie the game at 2-2 for the Hornets (5-2) in the top of the fourth inning.
Hayley Pottle and Jenna Petrovic contributed a single and double each for the Raiders (5-2) in the winning effort.
Cony 3, Edward Little 2
AUBURN — Kasidy Turgeon scored the eventual game-winning run in the top of the seventh on a throwing error as Cony edged Edward Little 3-2 in KVAC softball action Friday afternoon.
Arika Brochu fanned 11 batters and produced a triple and run for the Rams (4-3). Turgeon was put in motion in the top of the seventh by a Cati Hopkins double.
The Red Eddies (4-3) attempted a come-from-behind in the bottom of the seventh when Hanna Smith cracked a double and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Kailey Bureau.
But Edward Little failed to push another run across the plate after that.
Mt. Ararat 2, Lewiston 1
TOPSHAM — Sara Lamb smoked a single to left field in the bottom of the 11th inning as Mt. Ararat survived a 2-1 contest with Lewiston in KVAC softball action Friday afternoon.
Center fielder Lexi Poulin recorded three hits for the Blue Devils (0-8), two singles and a double. The catcher, Meagan Gosselin, caught two runners trying to steal second, keeping Lewiston alive until the 11th inning.
Lewiston pitcher, Megan Theriault, struck out eight batters in 11 innings of work, and took the hard luck loss.
Eagles’ (3-4) pitcher, Alana Weaver, tripled and scored on a fielder’s choice in the first inning. Weaver only recorded two strikeouts in the winning effort.
Oxford Hills 3, Messalonskee 2
OAKLAND — Oxford Hills posted a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to leap frog Messalonskee in a 3-2 decision in KVAC softball action Friday afternoon.
Trailing 2-1 in the seventh, Annika Kahkonen started things rolling for the Vikings (7-1) with a double.
Hannah Kenney pushed Kahkonen across the plate with another double, and Shannon Fillebrown’s fielder’s choice scored Kenney for the eventual game-winner.
Sarah Labbe recorded a run-scoring single in the sixth inning for the Eagles.
