PORTLAND — Noted Boston-based composer and percussionist Nate Tucker will present “Off Grid: An Evening of Electronics and Live Percussion” in the historic stair hall of Victoria Mansion at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 3. It will be his only Portland solo performance of this tour and is brought to the city in a first-ever collaboration between Brunswick-based Oratorio Chorale and Victoria Mansion.
Tucker is known for bridging the gap between classical and pop music as well as collaborating with dance and theater, so be prepared to see him combine all of these elements into this solo show. He will entertain with selections that combine ancient percussion instruments with live samplings and electronic music. The evening’s first set will include Tucker’s original composition “Nocturne on a Drought” and “Le Corps à Corps” by Georges Aperghis, and the second set will be “6 Marimbas” by Steve Reich.
Doors will open at 5:30 and there will be two 25-minute sets beginning at 6 with a 20-minute intermission of wine, hors d’oeuvres and conversation. Tickets are $25 and seating is limited.
