BATH — Carlos Calvo injects folk music with something it has been missing: virtuoso guitar playing. At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Chocolate Church Arts Center, 804 Washington St., Calvo will perform original music featuring his warm, resonant voice, soulful lyrics and lush guitar peppered with flamenco riffs.

Calvo grew up surrounded by world-famous flamenco and classical guitarists. He was formally trained at Carnegie Hall to play Bach and Barrios, but also immersed himself in the pop perfection of the Beatles.

Before embarking on his solo career, Calvo fronted successful bands that toured with Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Willie Porter. As a solo artist, he has toured with The Bacon Brothers and Colin Hay and numerous times in Europe as a headliner. Last year, he played Bath Heritage Days with actor/musician Rob Morrow.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $14 at the door, and are available at www.chocolatechurcharts.org or by calling the CCAC box office 207-442-8455.
