LEWISTON — An Auburn man was being examined for head and other injuries Wednesday night, after his car flipped on College Street, taking power lines down with it.

Police said Jedediah Jacobs-Pratt, 22, was driving out College Street when he suddenly swerved, causing the car to leave the road, where it narrowly missed colliding with an oncoming car, knocked down a pole and slid into a clump of trees.

The crash occurred near Little Street at about 7:30 p.m. Police, fire and rescue crews who responded found a disoriented Pratt bleeding from cuts and scrapes. He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center where he was being examined later Wednesday for cuts, pain and a possible head injury.

Police said Pratt didn’t appear to remember what caused him to swerve in the seconds before his Ford Focus flipped.

A Central Maine Power crew was called to the crash site to make repairs to the downed wires. Police closed a section of College Street while those repairs were underway.

The crash remained under investigation.
