Mexico High Class of 1969 to meet

MEXICO — Mexico High School Class of ’69 will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at the Thai Smile Two on Main Street, Mexico.

Mercer walk will teach how to forage medicinal, herbal edibles

MERCER — The Upper Kennebec Valley Chapter of SWOAM will host Medicinal and Herbal Edibles, Food and Healing in Your Woods from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6.

The walk will be lead by Lizzy Hayes and Geoff Nosach, notable experts on medicinal and edibles. They will pick up from last fall’s medicinal and edibles session to see what’s available to forage in spring.

The walk will begin at Bob and Mary Burr’s farm at 122 Corson Road, Mercer (sign will direct off Beech Hill Road).

The public is welcome to this free event, and pre-registration is not required. Participants should wear boots for hiking. This is a rain or shine event.

Veterans of Foreign Wars to hold yard sale

JAY — The VFW Men’s Auxiliary will hold its annual yard sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Post at the corner of Jewell Street and Route 133.

Donations for this fund-raising event can be arranged by calling Donn at 207-897-2457 or the post at 207-897-5112. Electric items will not be accepted.

AARP Smart Driver Course set for June 13

BBRIDGTON — Bridgton Community Center will host the AARP Smart Driver course from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at 15 Depot St.

This four-hour refresher course is for experienced drivers 50 years of age and older. Topics include safe driving strategies, defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road. The class helps drivers adjust to age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. Drivers in Maine 55 years of age and older are entitled to discounts on their insurance premiums for three years after taking or re-taking this course.

Registration by Wednesday, June 8, is required. The fee is $15 for AARP members, $20 for others.

Heywood Club to hold monthly meeting

NORWAY — The Heywood Club will hold their monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 8, at the clubhouse.

Members will be sorting and prepping the items for their annual 7 ½ Mile Yard Sale, which is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, June 13.

American Legion to hold supper and dance

GREENWOOD — The American Legion Hall in Locke Mills will have a supper and dance from 5-9:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9.

There will be music from the Shadagee Ramblers.

Cost of the event for adults is $7 for supper, $5 to dance and $10 for supper and dance. Children may attend for $3.

Daughters of Isabella to hold June meeting

RUMFORD — The Daughters of Isabella, St. Timothy’s Circle 504, will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at the Holy Savior Church Hall.

Chairpersons are Druscilla Breton and Patricia Hopkins. Also on the committee are Jean Wiken, Jennifer Kreckel, Terry Umbro, Maureen Gill, and Pierrette Gagnon.

The following will be congratulated on 25 year plus membership to the Daughters of Isabella for the months of May and June:

Patricia Gautreau, 62 years; Elizabeth Dumoulin, 47 years; and Lorraine Barre, 48 years.
