LIVERMORE — When voters gather on June 10 at the Community Center (not the Elementary School as listed in the town report), they will be asked to make several important decisions.

Capital road improvements, equipment purchases and the construction of a new sand/salt shed are some of the financial decisions to be made. A new tax payment system and discontinuance of winter maintenance on a private road will also be voted on.

Voters will decide how much money to raise or appropriate for capital road improvements. The selectpersons have recommended $300,000, while the town’s Budget Committee recommended $280,000.

The town needs a new sand/salt shed. Voters will be asked to approve financing of up to $285,000 for the engineering and construction of the shed.

Equipment purchases will also be considered. The 1995 CASE backhoe needs to be replaced at an estimated cost of $135,000. Voters will be asked to approve financing for that purchase, as well as for the purchase of a highway plow truck to replace the 2008 GMC. They will also be asked to raise or appropriate $53,696 for the loan payment for the 2012 Volvo truck purchased by the town.

A change from a biannual to quarterly tax-payment system will be considered. The change might make it financially easier for residents and would bring in tax for the town four times a year, which may also reduce the need for the town to borrow money while waiting for tax payments to come in.

Another issue to be decided is the discontinuance of winter road maintenance on the private Leavitt Road Extension. That road serves the property located at Map R08, Lot 040. The property was formerly owned by Bert Bryant.
