AUBURN — Heatek Energy LLC, 280 Poland Spring Road, Auburn, is celebrating its one-year anniversary.

Founded by Rick Jones and Evan Jones, Heatek Energy LLC provides distribution and installation of biomass boilers, and has experience in the service and support of large biomass heating systems.

As owner of Jones Associates Inc., Rick Jones has more than 25 years of experience in forestry, land use consulting and project management. With a bachelor of science degree in wood technology, as well as forest utilization, he had long wanted to start a business that would assist Mainers in utilizing natural resources as a heating source. When his son, Evan, graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2013 with a degree in mechanical engineering, it seemed like the perfect time to combine their skills and start a biomass heating systems business, they said.

Heatek aims to provide biomass heating systems for commercial, municipal and residential buildings and also to provide advice in locating fuel sources and providing service and support of the systems after they are up and running.

Residential wood pellet boilers may qualify for up to $5,000 of incentives from Efficiency Maine. Other grant sources are available for nonprofits and businesses. Heatek Energy will assist the customer with seeking funding sources.
