LEWISTON — Roger M. Turgeon, 86, of Lewiston, died Monday, June 8, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a short illness, with his family by his side.

He was born in Auburn on March 18, 1929, the son of the late Albert and Alice (Champagne) Turgeon. He attended local schools and was a 1948 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School.

He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his service.

On May 30, 1956, he married the former Jeannine Cloutier at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

He was self-employed for many years and later went on to work at the U.S. Postal Service for many years prior to retiring in 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Turgeon, of Lewiston; one son, Paul Turgeon, and his wife, Tricia, of Marlborough, N.Y.; three daughters, Doris Ouellette and her husband, Robert, of Greene, Denise Bolger and her husband, Dennis, of Lewiston, and Louise Wotton and her husband, Frank, of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Renee Moore of New York, Danielle Waters of Lisbon Falls, Matthew Bolger of Portland, and Melanie Ouellette of Greene; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Gianna Moore, of New York; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Turgeon of Auburn and Lorraine Turgeon of Arizona; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Fernand, Richard and Robert Turgeon.
