PORTER – Police and drug agents Wednesday seized 11 pounds of marijuana and more than 100 plants after searching a laundromat on Bridge Street, according to a Maine State Police news release.
Investigators said officers from Maine State Police, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency went into the Porter laundromat Wednesday morning after a weeklong investigation.
After finding the grow operation, police arrested a pair of brothers who own the laundromat. Mark Vieira, 54, and Richard Vieira, 55, both of Porter, were each charged with cultivating marijuana, police said.
Police estimated the street value of the pot at $80,000.
