OXFORD — Selectmen have awarded two bids to replace a deteriorating pump station in the north end of town.

In a unanimous vote June 18, town officials authorized two local companies to build new foundation walls, a floor slab, concrete footings and a small building to house the plumbing. The total project will cost more than $19,000. A project time line was not known.

The station provides sewer to businesses north of Pottle Road near the town line with Norway, including Applebee’s, Hannaford and retail businesses in the mall.

The first phase of the project was awarded to Paris-based Bancroft Contracting Corp. for $10,600. The next-lowest bid the town received was $14,618 from Hebron-based J. Pratt Construction Inc., and the highest bid, $37,400 came from Gordon Contracting in Sangerville.

The bid for a small, 150-square foot pump station house was awarded to Norway-based D.A. Builders Inc. for $8,675. The next-lowest bid was $14,850; the highest, $36,850.
