LIVERMORE FALLS — On a beautiful summer evening last week, many people could be found sitting in their cars near the gazebo. Others had brought their lawn chairs . All were enjoying the concert being provided by Terry Moore.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Livermore Falls gazebo. Concerts there are scheduled every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday night from 6-8 p.m. this summer.
Moore’s repertoire included songs made popular by Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, Rickie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and others.
Derrick Baker and his grandmother were taking advantage of time spent together. Derrick brought a toy that launches small disks and a ball to play with. He enjoyed seeing if his grandmother could catch each disk he released. Derrick smiled as much, or more, when she didn’t catch it as when she did. Chasing each other around the benches and tables led to more laughs and smiling faces.
At the nearby Bank Building Apartments, Carole Redman, Pauline Dion and Ruth Forbes were enjoying the music from the comfort of their own backyard. Carole and Ruth have lived there for nine years while Pauline moved in last March.
Carole said there is an exercise room and a big room downstairs where parties are held. “There’s an elevator to take our stuff up,” she added.
Ruth loves living in the apartment complex and being able to listen to the summer concerts. “It’s nice of them to give up their spare time to play down there,” she said.
Pauline likes her new home. “You don’t miss out on anything,” she said. Pauline also pointed out that a lot of young people live there.
Some of the summer concerts in the gazebo are taped for Channel 7.
