The Western Foothills Land Trust will present local gem Frank Perham on Tuesday July 21, 6:30 p.m. at the Norway Memorial Library. Perham, one of North America’s foremost experts on granitic pegmatites will be speaking about his Harvard Quarry in Greenwood – if he stays on topic. Like any experienced mineralogist, Frank knows to follow the vein of a promising story when one arises. The land trust is currently fund raising to purchase and protect the summit of Noyes Mountain in Greenwood. The 295-acre project parcel will provide recreational trails and non-motorized public access, protect water resources, wildlife habitat, and agricultural fields, and will provide access to the historic Harvard Quarry, owned by Frank Perham. There is no charge for his program. Donations to the Noyes Mountain purchase will be gratefully appreciated. In this circa 1900 posed photo, Shavey Noyes and Tim Heath workthe Harvard Quarry.
