MEXICO — Maine Dairy Princess Kaicey Conant and Natalie Sneller, both from the Conant Acres Dairy Farm in Canton, spoke to children about dairy and cows during the Full Steam Ahead summer program for RSU 10 students held at the Mountain Valley Middle School.
They brought a young calf and a heifer to show demonstrations and for the children to meet. Conant will show at the heifer at fairs this summer.
Sneller talked about what cows eat and how they make milk, as well as why it’s important for children to get their three servings of dairy daily, and what foods are included in the dairy group.
Conant spoke about the work she does to get her animals ready to go to the fair. She trains them to walk on a lead, practicing daily. She also bathes her animals daily and clips them regularly.
The Conant family was recently honored as the Elite Breeder for the National Holstein Convention in Illinois.
