WILTON — A Wilton Police Department investigation landed a South Paris woman in jail on a charge of burglarizing a motor vehicle at Kineowatha Park in Wilton.
Brittany Knight, 25, was arrested Sunday on the charge after police officer Ethan Kyes completed his investigation, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.
A purse containing credit cards and a small amount of cash was taken from the car, she said. The credit cards were then used in three local locations on the same day they were taken, as seen on store security systems.
When police asked about the location of the credit cards, Knight told them she thought police had taken them during an Oxford County warrant search of her home, she said.
The car was locked but the window was left down a bit for air, Wilcox said.
Knight was released later Sunday from Franklin County Detention Center on $500 cash bail.
