SABATTUS — The Board of Selectmen named seven people to a town manager search committee Tuesday night.
They are Selectman Jeff Baril, Connie Castonguay, Ronda Fournier, Loretta Hinkley, Richard Lacombe, Norm LaPlante and Amedeo Lauria. They are expected to meet next week, but no date or time has been set.
Interim Town Manager Tony Ward confirmed he will apply for the position.
Andrew Gilmore announced his resignation as town manager on July 7, saying he was moving to Raleigh, N.C., where his wife accepted a nursing position. His last day was July 24.
The board unanimously appointed Police Chief Tony Ward as interim manager. He continued his duties as chief.
Gilmore said at the time of his resignation that Ward is an excellent candidate, considering his knowledge of town matters, his many years of administrative experience and his master’s degree in public policy and management.
