The children’s fete on Lewiston city park, Thursday afternoon, was a remarkably pretty affair and delighted the more than 2000 people, the major portion of them little folks, who gathered to see the exhibition which marked the close of the eighth annual season of public playgrounds in Lewiston and Auburn. A large portion of the green on the Park Street side of the common was roped off and here, under the canopy of beautiful elms, the dances, drills and games were exhibited. About 45 children participated in the program, all girls with but few exceptions, and a very small number compared with the hundreds and hundreds of children who have been on the playgrounds during the summer. The dances and drills were all well executed and evidenced the fact that the girls and the playground directors have put in a great deal of time in preparation.

The man being sought is lightly dressed and wearing only one shoe, according to Deputy Saunders. The other shoe was found in the wrecked automobile.

Sleek, with an air of sculpted elegance, two great Lockheed Constellation Starliners sit unmoving in a corner near the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport. They dwarf the surrounding array of small private planes as they themselves would be dwarfed by giant modern passenger jets. In their brief day they were the largest, grandest passenger planes on earth, carrying a then-astonishing load of 74 passengers in unprecedented comfort. On Sept. 3, curious residents will at last get a chance to examine the two closely. As part of a fund-raising fair for the Auburn Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, owner Maine Coast Airways has agreed to offer tours of the Starliners.
