AUBURN — After a scoreless first half, Edward Little found the net when Elizabeth Bellman and Jasmine Wyman each scored a goal off rebounds in the second half, giving Edward Little (3-0) a 2-0 win over Hampden (2-2) in a field hockey game Thursday.
EL goalie Karli Stubbs made four saves and the Red Eddies outshot Hampden, 22-6.
Gray-NG 1, Cape Elizabeth 0
GRAY — Cara Waltz scored the lone goal as Gray-New Gloucester grabbed their second win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Cape Elizabeth in field hockey action Thursday afternoon.
Goalie Eden Divney made 18 saves in net for the Capers (0-4), while goalie Adrianna Kimball prevented five to earn the win for the Patriots (2-2).
Spruce Mountain 4, Waterville 1
JAY — Senior center-forward Kaylee LeClerc netted a pair of goals as Spruce Mountain cruised to a 4-1 victory over Waterville in KVAC field hockey action Thursday.
The Pheonix (3-1) led 2-1 at the half.
Forward Amber Hill posted the only Pheonix (0-4) goal in first half action.
Goalie Coby Dengler made 11 saves for saves for Waterville, while Grace Ryan stopped two to earn the win.
Oxford Hills 3, Brunswick 0
PARIS — Oxford Hills reeled off two goals in the first half and added another in the second as the Vikings shut out Brunswick 3-0 in a field hockey game Thursday.
Ashlei Moss, Emma Davidson and Haley Wakefield scored for the Vikings (3-1), with Erin Morton, Lexie Caron and Sydney Jackson picking up assists.
The Vikings outshot Dragons (0-3-1), 29-5.
MCI 1, Leavitt 0
PITTSFIELD — Victoria Friend sent a high arcing shot over the defense and goalie just one minute and 39 seconds into overtime to lift Maine Central Institute to a 1-0 triumph over Leavitt in field hockey action Thursday.
The Hornets (2-1) had multiple opportunities to score in the second half, but couldn’t pull the trigger. Huskies’ goalie Mikayla Carr made several good stops.
Goalie Hailey DeMascio stopped five shots in net for Leavitt.
Skowhegan 2, Mt. Blue 1
FARMINGTON — Lauren LeBlanc and Cassidy Clement scored a goal in each half for Skowhegan to upend Mt. Blue 2-1 in field hockey action Thursday.
Leah St. Laurent had the only Mt. Blue goal.
Goalie Erika McArthur made one save for Mt. Blue, while goalie Leah Kruse stopped five to earn the win in net for Skowhegan.
Girls’ soccer
Bangor 2, Lewiston 0
LEWISTON — Sarah Bragg and Erynne Sauda scored a first half goal each to lift Bangor to a 2-0 victory over Lewiston in girls’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.
The Rams (3-0) outpaced the Blue Devils (1-2) by a margin of 21-11 in shots.
Goalie Kelsey St.Cyr made 14 saves for Lewiston, while goalie Emily Gilmore deflected six to earn the win in net for Bangor.
Traip 7, Poland 1
POLAND — Junior striker Blanca Alanso tore up the turf with five goals as Traip bolted to a 7-1 victory over Poland in KVAC girls’ soccer action Thursday afternoon.
The Rangers used their speed and quickness along with time of possession to control the offense.
Sophomore striker Nathalie Theriault scored the only Knights goal in the
second half to spoil the shutout.
Goalie Erin Brewer made nine saves for Poland.
Boys’ soccer
Edward Little 2, Oxford Hills 0
PARIS — Jacob Kyajohnian opened the scoring with the game-winning goal as Edward Little dispatched Oxford Hills 2-0 in boys’ soccer action Thursday.
Tyler Morin added an insurance goal in the second half for the Red Eddies (1-0-2), with the assistance of Mohammed Abdraba for his second assist in the game for the Eddies (1-0-2).
Poland 3, Traip 2
KITTERY — Patrick Kuklinski tagged the game-winning goal inside the near post on a corner kick to lift Poland to a 3-2 victory over Traip Academy in boys’ soccer action Thursday.
The Rangers (0-3) took an early 2-0 lead with goals from Trevor Salema and Abdullah Harbi before Kyle Radziszewski found the back of the net for the Knights (1-1).
Early in the second half, Trystan Sanborn launched a ball from a distance over the outstretched hand of Ranger goalie Justin Borman to tie the game.
