YARMOUTH — Entries are being accepted until 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, for the seventh annual Yarmouth Art Festival. The juried show will be held Oct. 21-24 at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church at 396 Gilman Road in Yarmouth, about a mile from Cousin’s Island.
The festival welcomes online submissions – painting, drawing, sculpture and photography – from any artist 18 and older who maintains a residence in Maine. The fee is $15 per person for the first piece, $10 for the second and $5 for every additional one. To access an entry form and the rules, visit www.yarmouthartfestival.com.
Artists will be notified by Oct. 1 about works chosen by jurors for inclusion, the same date an online preview gallery of the show will be available. The 2014 show featured 162 pieces by 80 Maine artists, selected from among nearly 350 pieces submitted. In all, 33 pieces were sold for a total of $12,535.
Last year’s jurors were artist Suzanne Harden; Anne Haas, Bowdoin College art librarian; and Elizabeth Moss, owner of Elizabeth Moss Gallery in Falmouth. The jurors for 2015 will be announced in September.
The festival will be open Wednesday, Oct. 21, through Friday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. An artists’ reception, including music and refreshments, will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Admission will be free for both the festival and the reception, with donations accepted.
Entry fees and sale commissions help support St. Bart’s programs, as well as local community services such as Friendship House, Yarmouth Community Food Pantry and St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry in Portland.
