FARMINGTON — There is nothing quite like the Farmington Fair to welcome fall to the region.
The 175th Farmington Fair begins Sunday, sponsored by the Franklin County Agricultural Association.
“This is a monumental year for us and we, of course, think it will be the best fair ever,” association Vice President Tom Sawyer said.
Chloe Venter, 14, of Industry, has been named the winner of the 4-H poster contest with her drawing of animals on the fairgrounds.
Highlights include:
Sunday: Miss Farmington Fair, barrel racing, fireworks display at dusk
Monday: Agriculture Education Day, $15 midway ride special from 5 to 10 p.m., Danny Taylor & Taylor Made Music, Drag Your Neighbor
Tuesday: $2 at the gate, $2 per ride; baking competition, Lori Pelletier Bonnevie performing music, firemen’s muster, pro wrestling
Wednesday: Horse twitching and scooting, draft horse pull, $20 midway ride special 1 to 9 p.m., Dan Grady’s Marionettes, horse vs. ox pull
Thursday: Sheep show, Lighthouse Jubilee, bagpipers, truck and tractor pull
Friday: Horse pull, beef exhibit, 4-H goat show, truck/tractor pull, Off the Hill Band
Saturday: Dairy goat show, youth poultry show, oxen pull, draft horse show, 3-horse hitch pull, Mutton Bustin’ Kids (7-8 years), Demolition Derby

* Western Maine Blacksmiths
* Western Maine Beekeepers
* Pari-mutuel (harness) racing
Weekly ticket prices are: $35 for one person age 12 years and older, not including parking; $10 for one person ages 8 to 11; $60 for ticket purchaser, significant other and children under 18 years of age, not including voting or parking: $100 voting members good for one year, not including parking.
