BUCKFIELD — Three different players scored a pair of goals as Buckfield sailed to a 9-0 shutout victory over Greater Portland Christian in girls’ soccer action Saturday.
Tabea Vatthauer assisted on three of the Bucks (5-0) tallies, Brianna Damon contributed two goals and two assists for Buckfield.
Goalie Grace MacDougall made 14 saves for Greater Portland Christian (2-3), while goalie Hannah Shields only needed to turn back one to earn the win in net for Buckfield.
Leavitt 1, Maranacook 1
TURNER — Nikki Daigle found the back of the net with three minutes remaining in regulation as Leavitt played to a 1-1 double overtime tie with Maranacook in girls’ soccer action Saturday.
Abby Duprey collected an unassisted goal in the first half to put the Black Bears (1-3-1) on the board first.
Goalie Angie Daigle made three saves for Maranacook, while goalie Sierra Wilson prevented 11 shots for the Hornets (2-1-3).
Morse 3, Spruce Mountain 0
JAY — Baylie Cram provided a goal and an assist as Morse toppled Spruce Mountain 3-0 in girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Shipbuilders scored two goals in the first half.
Goalie Amber Delaney made 16 saves for Spruce Mountain, while goalie Marissa Parks fended off eight shots to earn the win in net for Morse.
St. Dom’s 6, Dirigo 2
AUBURN — Avery Lutrzykowski recorded a hat trick as St. Dom’s coasted to a 6-2 victory over Dirigo in girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
All three of Lutrzykowski’s goals came in the first half as the Saints took a 3-0 halftime lead.
Brittany Greig accounted for both of the Cougars second half goals which were from the penalty kick variety.
Goalie Mariah Lefleur turned back nine shots, and goalie Mackenzie Ladd prevented one for Dirigo. Goalie Victoria Sasse failed to register a save, but earned the win in net just the same for St. Dom’s.
Field hockey
Spruce Mountain 8, Morse 0
BATH — Three different players scored two goals apiece as Spruce Mountain jostled Morse, 8-0, in field hockey action Saturday.
The Phoenix (6-2) led 3-0 at the half.
Goalie Sophie Wilson made 13 saves for the Shipbuilders (1-7), while goalie Grace Ryan repelled six shots to earn the win in net for Spruce Mountain.
Edward Little 2, Bangor 0
BANGOR — Oceanna Chamberlain and Brooke Lever levied a pair of second-half goals as Edward Little dispatched Bangor 2-0 in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
The Red Eddies (6-1) were strong on offense with a 19-2 margin in shots on goal.
Goalie Kahia Maheux made 17 saves for the Rams (0-6), while goalie Karli Stubbs stopped two to earn the win in net for Edward Little.
Boys’ soccer
Carrabec 4, Mountain Valley 1
RUMFORD — Dylan Willette scored two goals as Carrabec handled a 4-1 victory over Mountain Valley in girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Cobras (3-1-1) slid three goals into the net in the second half.
Junior Sonke Hanneken recorded the only Falcon (5-1) goal.
Goalies Jacob Beauchense and Jacob Rainey combined for seven saves for Mountiain Valley, while Trent Richardson made six saves to earn the win in net for Carrabec.
Poland 2, Fryeburg 2 (2OT)
POLAND — Ethan Letourneau and Nate Chouinard netted second-half goals for Poland to tie the game against Fryeburg as the teams settled for a 2-2 tie in boys’ soccer action Saturday.
Pablo Lacia and Jordan Kruguer put the Raiders (2-2-1) on top 2-0 at the half.
Fryeburg switched its goalkeepers at the half, while goalie Trevor Saunders covered the cage the whole game with six saves for the Knights (1-2-1).
Freeport 2, Gray-NG 1
GRAY — Senior forward Jack Davenport assembled a goal in each half as Freeport secured a 2-1 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in WMC boys’ soccer action Saturday.
The Falcons (1-2-1) scored just 30 seconds into the second half on a quick counter attack for the eventual game winning tally.
Senior forward Liam Stewart scored the only Patriot (2-2-1).
Goalie John Henry Villanueva made eight saves for Gray-New Gloucester, while goalie Joey Burke facilitated Freeport’s first win of the season with 10 saves.
Maranacook 4, Leavitt 0
TURNER — Sam Wilkinson posted two goals to lead Maranacook to a 4-0 triumph over Leavitt in boys’ soccer action Saturday.
Wilkinson initiated the scoring for the Black Bears (6-0) by beating three defenders on the end line and sneaking one past the goal tender.
Goalie Lucas Perry made six saves for the Hornets (2-3-1), while goalie Justin Freeman turned away two shots to earn the win in net for Maranacook.
Men’s soccer
Bates 2, Thomas 1
LEWISTON — Luis Pereira scored the game-winning goal with 7:01 remaining in the first overtime period, providing the Bates College men’s soccer team with a 2-1 victory over Thomas College Saturday afternoon.
The game remained scoreless for the first 60 minutes, including a missed kick by Pereira in the 55th minute.
Five minutes later, a free kick by Pereira was deflected by the goalkeeper, but sophomore David Murphy cleaned up with a tap-in.
The Terriers (2-3) evened the game in spectacular fashion, as Willie Clemons converted a pass from Tre Ming and unleashed a bicycle kick past goalie Sam Polito in the 67th minute.
Nearly three minutes into overtime, David Dick sent a cross to Pereira, who received the pass cleanly and knocked the ball into the upper right corner of the net, to continue the Bobcats’ undefeated status (4-0) for the first time since 1991.
