AUBURN — Jill A. Checkoway, a shareholder at Skelton Taintor & Abbott law firm, has been named a “Best Lawyer in America” by U.S. News Media Group and Best Lawyers. It is her ninth time.

With more than three decades of experience, Checkoway’s practice focuses on probate administration, wills and trusts, estate and gift tax planning, and pre- and post-marital agreements. She has extensive experience working with complex estates and trusts that involve issues concerning closely held business assets, irrevocable life insurance trusts and common ownership of vacation property.

She is a member of the Maine Probate and Trust Law Advisory Commission and a former member of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court Advisory Committee on Probate Rules.
