BANGOR (AP) — A Hudson man has pleaded guilty in connection with a New Year’s Day crash killed his fiancee.

42-year-old Shawn MacNevin pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aggravated operating under the influence Thursday stemming from the Jan. 1 crash in Bangor that took the life of 37-year-old Elizabeth Horlieca.

Investigators said MacNevin’s Jeep ran off the road and struck a tree. Prosecutors said his blood-alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit to drive. A medical examiner determined Horlieca died of a broken neck.

MacNevin addressed the court, saying he’s sorry and takes full responsibility.

The defense is asking for no more than two years behind bars and the prosecution is asking for four.

Prosecutors say MacNevin had three OUI’s in the 1990s. The judge will hand down the sentence next Thursday.
