LEWISTON — Fiddle-icious, Maine’s largest fiddle orchestra, will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Franco Center, 46 Cedar St.

It’s one of four concerts announced for the orchestra’s 12th season in 2015.

The orchestra is comprised of over 100 musicians who play fiddle, piano, harp, guitar, banjo, accordion, cello, tin whistle, concertina and upright bass. Their tunes are passed on from the Irish, Scottish, Quebecois and Acadian traditions and include reels, jigs, marches, hornpipes, waltzes, step-dancing and singing.

The nonprofit, all-volunteer community organization has members from Kittery to Augusta.

The orchestra is directed by Don Roy, a designated master fiddler from Gorham. He and his wife, Cindy Roy, provide piano accompaniment. Both grew up in French-Canadian families where music was an integral part of their lives.

The short documentary “Fiddle-icious-Community of Music” produced by the Salt Institute can be viewed at http://vimeo.com/8240140.
