SALEM — The Mt. Abram Roadrunners scored two opening-half goals to defeat the Winthrop Ramblers 2-0 in a girls’ MVC soccer game.
Lindsay Huff opened the scoring with 19:48 remaining, with Meg Marble picking up the assist on the play. Marya Beedy fed a through ball to Emma Kearing, who made it 2-0 with 6:19 remaining.
Abby Brackley only needed to make two saves as the Roadrunners improve to 3-5-2. Shie Smith made seven saves as Winthrop falls to 1-9.
Field hockey
Leavitt 5, Erskine 0
TURNER — Chantel Eells had two goals and an assist to lead the Leavitt Hornets to the 5-0 victory over Erskine Academy (2-9-1) in KVAC
field hockey action.
Ashley Mathieu found Alana Hartford off a penalty corner to put the Hornets up 1-0. Eells scored her two goals in-a-row with the first one coming off a penalty stroke.
The second goal came off an assist from Kaitlyn Leclerc to make it 3-0. Mathieu made it 4-0 just before the buzzer at the half.
Colleen Mathieu rounded out the scoring for the Hornets (8-4) with Eells notching the assist.
Oak Hill 4, Telstar 0
BETHEL — Erika Hannigan scored a pair of goals and Abby Asselin, Kylee Veilleux each scored as goal as Oak Hill (9-4) shut out Telstar 4-0 in a field hockey game Monday.
Asselin, Veilleux, Hayden Spencer and Kiera Young each picked up assists for the day. Goalie Abby Fuller made five saves for the Raiders. Telstar is now 3-8.
