AUBURN — Saint Dominic Academy has hired Maine native Janet Sprague as a college and academic adviser. She was selected from a number of well-qualified individuals.

Sprague is a certified guidance counselor who was employed at a secondary school in Florida, where she resided for several years. 

For more than 20 years, Sprague has worked with students in both education and the Catholic Church. She is an active member of the American School Counselor Association as well as the respective state and local organizations for counselors.

She has a master’s degree in counseling psychology and is working on her Ph.D. in psychology/cognition and instruction from Grand Canyon University of Phoenix, Ariz. Her research topic is the correlation between sports participation and the executive functioning skills of students.

Sprague will begin counseling students on Tuesday, Oct. 13. St. Dom’s has scheduled a meet-and-greet session with Sprague from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.
