SACO (AP) — Police say they charged a 28-year-old man with eluding a police officer after he led a state trooper on a chase in Saco and ran off into a swamp.
Police also charged Kevin Switzer of Plymouth with aggravated operating after revocation of a driver’s license. A trooper pulled Switzer over on the Saco spur off the Maine Turnpike when he took off by car, starting a chase onto U.S. 1 that ended behind a supermarket building.
Police say Switzer was later spotted in a boggy area behind the building and was taken into custody after he and the trooper were both waist-deep in mud and water.
It was unclear on Thursday if Switzer had a lawyer. He made bail and is due in court on Nov. 20.
