LEWISTON — Former Ethiopian Prime Minister Tamrat Layne will tell about his controversial “encounter with God” in a filmed interview at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at South Lewiston Baptist Church’s Lifetree Café, 1919 Lisbon Road.
After serving as prime minister, Layne was convicted of corruption charges and served 12 years in prison. During his incarceration, Layne claims he experienced a supernatural visit from God.
“This compelling story raises questions we’ll consider at this program,” said Lifetree Café representative Craig Cable. “Did God appear in an Ethiopian prison cell to Layne? Are such encounters real? If so, why doesn’t God appear to anyone who asks him to do so?”
Admission to the hourlong event is free.
