CHESTERVILLE — An electrical short circuit is the reported cause of a building fire on Zions Hill Road early Saturday morning, Chief Edward Hastings IV aid.
The damage was to a 20-foot section of metal siding on the house and the exterior of the woodshed. There was no interior damage.
The homeowner, Brian Sweeney, heard the fire outside at about 2:47 a.m. and used a fire extinguisher and a garden hose to knock down the flames until firefighters arrived, he said.
About 10 firefighters from Chesterville and Farmington responded. Other departments were called off by firefighters who arrived on the scene first.
