LEWISTON — Are you looking for some fun activities to do with the kiddos this Halloween weekend that are safe and fun? — We’ve got you covered with a roundup of some of the trick-or-treating events taking place in the Lewiston-Auburn area Friday and Saturday. 

YMCA – Auburn:
YMCA Halloween Party: Spooky activities, games and trick-or-treat bag decorating for children will be offered during a party from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. It is free to attend and open to the public.  The YMCA is at 62 Turner St., Auburn.

Wallingford’s Fruit House – Auburn:
There will be a Parade of Jack-o’-Lanterns Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 30, 31 and Nov. 1, at Wallingford’s Fruit House, off Youngs Corner Road in Auburn. The viewing time will be from 5 to 9 p.m. each evening.

Donations will be accepted for the Maine Children’s Cancer program.

Clover Health Care – Auburn:
Clover Health Care, located at 440 Minot Ave., Auburn, will host a community trick-or treat for children 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Residents and staff will be on hand throughout the building to pass out treats. A haunted house will also be part of the Halloween fun for interested children and their parents. Children 12 and younger are welcome to trick or treat; all are welcome to visit the haunted house. Please contact Clover Health Care, 207-784-3573 for details or questions. 

St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion – Lewiston:
St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion will host trick-or-treaters 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. It is a safe, warm, and spooktacular Halloween event, complete with haunted house. All are welcome. Located at 93 Campus Ave., Lewiston

Auburn Mall – Auburn:
Auburn Mall 550 Center St., Auburn on Saturday, Oct.  31, for our Halloween Costume Contest for a chance to win gift certificates and other prizes. Registration begins at 1pm and costume contest starts at at 2 p.m. Trick or Treating in the mall begins at 3 p.m.

New Auburn (Rolly’s Diner) – Auburn:
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, the United New Auburn Association will celebrate its fifth annual Say Happy Hello-ween to New Auburn’s Downtown Area Businesses.

The Halloween event is meant to provide a safe place for children and adults to celebrate during daylight hours and to encourage people to visit New Auburn businesses and shops.

The starting point is Rolly’s Diner, where trick-or-treaters will be given maps of the area and lists of participating businesses. Volunteer crossing guards will be stationed at the crosswalks.

Participating businesses will give out candy; some will offer prize drawings. A few businesses that are not usually open on Saturday will be open for the event.

Volunteer costume judges will wander throughout the area giving out award cards to children and adults with the best costumes in various categories. Prizes will be given out at Rolly’s.

The ending point of the event will be a haunted house at the Boys and Girls Club. Youngsters who attend the Boys and Girls Club started months ago creating the haunted house to make it even better than last year’s.
