TURNER — The Turner Public Library now has fiber arts tools and musical instruments available for members to sign out.

The Library has Irish and Middle-Eastern hand drums, a concertina, a ukulele, a fiddle and a small harp. Instructional DVDs and books offer guidance for those interested in learning to play the instruments. There are also books to help members build their own instruments.

Members can also indulge in the fiber arts and learn how to spin by borrowing a Louet spinning wheel or a drop spindle. Two four-harness looms are available for those interested in weaving. The library carries support books and how-to DVDs for all of these items.

The acquisition of the musical collection was made possible by a grant from the Maine Community Foundation and the generosity of the First Universalist Church. Donations made in memory of Brian Tibbetts provided funding for the fiber arts realia and support materials.
