OXFORD — Police are looking for information that will help them locate a man for questioning about two burglaries at local businesses between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Police Chief Jonathan Tibbetts said someone forced their way through the front door of Smedberg’s Crystal Spring Farm store on Route 26 and stole an undisclosed amount of rolled coins and cash between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Farther south on Route 26, a burglar forced their way through the front door of The Lost Gull Seafood Restaurant and stole rolled coins and cash, he said. The break-in is believed to have occurred between Sunday night and Monday morning. Owner Todd McDonald discovered it just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Tibbetts said police believe the two incidents are related.
Lt. Michael Ward, the primary investigating officer, said it appears the same tool was used to enter both businesses.
Tibbetts said a man about 6 feet tall and weighing about 250 pounds was seen walking in the area and carrying a backpack Sunday night, and police want to question him.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Oxford Police Department at 539-4414.
