From left, singers Brooke Morin-Lachance and Shawna Haley-Bear, will join their mothers, musician moms, Debbie Morin and Kathy Haley, and several other well-known local musicians and their offspring in a benefit concert, from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, at the Franco Center, 46 Cedar St., Lewiston. All proceeds from the event will support continued work to create a park on the grounds of the former Pettingill School in Lewiston. “The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From the Tree” concept was the brainchild of guitarist and singer-songwriter Denny Breau, who is leading the musical effort backing the park project. “Every year I have to come up with the concept for the (benefit) concert, and this seemed like a fun thing to do” as well as one that would work to raise proceeds for the park. Breau will be joined by his daughter, Alyssa, who will sing in public for the first time. Other family duos include pianist Mitch Thomas and his daughter, Hayden, a vocalist; saxophonist Mike Atkinson and his daughter Annelyse, a vocalist; and guitarists Ron Vachon and his grandson Justin Lindsay. Pop, jazz, country, and Broadway tunes will heard performed. Tickets are $15, and may be purchased at the door.
