GREENE — Two families were displaced after an electrical problem set fire to a house at 93 Patten Road on Tuesday evening, Fire Chief Bruce Sanford said. There were no injuries.

Sanford said the State Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause.

One side of the duplex, which is next to the fire station, is considered a total loss, Sanford said. He estimated the loss at $150,000.

The property, which is insured, is owned by Tony Morgan and rented to two families. Sanford said five or six people were displaced.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes, Sanford said, and remained at the scene for about three hours.

In addition to the Greene volunteers, departments from Wales, Monmouth, Leeds and Turner assisted. United Ambulance stood by.
