FRYEBURG — The Fryeburg Academy went on lockout for about 2 hours Thursday.
According to a statement from Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin, the school staff instituted a lockout about 10:25 a.m. when a threat referencing a gun was found on a bathroom stall was found.
Fryeburg Police, Maine State Police, Conway Police, Fryeburg Fire Department and Fryeburg Rescue closed nearby streets and investigated the incident. The investigation included interviewing students and gathering evidence at the scene.
The lockout ended about two hours later when police ruled the threat was not credible.
