LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Normand C. Rivard was celebrated by the Rev. Stephen Cartwright on Monday, Nov. 23, at Holy Cross Church of the Prince of Peace Parish.

At the beginning of Mass, Norm’s children draped their father’s casket with a white burial pall that signifies Norm’s baptism into a new spiritual life with God.

During the Mass, the first reading was proclaimed by Norm’s grandson, Andrew Baird; The Prayer of the Faithful was recited by Norm’s granddaughter, Amy Hermeril. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Norm’s granddaughters, Marissa Rivard and Jennifer Hebert. At the conclusion of Mass, words of remembrance were shared by Norm’s son-in-law, Episcopal Deacon Gary Drinkwater.

During the funeral procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery, the funeral cortege paused in front of Norm’s residence on Lisbon St., and also in front of the Webber Avenue Club in tribute to Norm as a longtime member. Upon arrival to the cemetery, the Rev. Cartwright recited committal prayers to conclude services. Then all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at Webber Avenue Club in Lewiston.

Arrangements by Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home of Lewiston.
