LEWISTON — Brookfield Renewable, owner and operator of 39 hydroelectric stations in Maine, including the Monty, Gulf Island, A3 and Deer Rips stations in the Lewiston-Auburn area, has relocated its Northeast Regional Operations Center to 150 Main St.
The Lewiston office will host approximately 25 of Brookfield Renewable’s 130 Maine-based employees.
“We take pride in working alongside groups and businesses in the towns and communities where we operate, and we’re excited to move back to Lewiston. This isn’t an office move, this is a homecoming,” Todd Wynn, Brookfield Renewable vice president of Northeast Operations, said in a prepared statement. “Not only is this our head office in Maine, we also manage all of our assets throughout the entire Northeast region from this office.”
The company relocated its Northeast office from Hallowell to Lewiston Nov. 2 because of the new office’s proximity to facilities and city amenities.
“The new location provides historic office space not only next to one of our hydro generating facilities, but also within walking distance of a variety of restaurants, accommodations and businesses,” said Brian Smith, manager of Community Relations for the company’s North American operations.
Brookfield Renewable is a global company specializing in hydroelectric power generation, with a growth strategy focused on hydro, wind and solar. Operating facilities in the U.S., Canada, Brazil and Europe, its domestic operations are primarily in the Northeast from New York to Maine.
