NEW SHARON — Fire destroyed a mobile home on Farmington Falls Road Wednesday afternoon, leaving one man homeless.

Fire crews from several towns were called to the scene near Tuttles Auto Sales shortly after 4 p.m.

Firefighters had to cut their way through a heavy ring of trees before they could get hoses to the trailer, fire officials said. Police closed a lane of travel on Farmington Falls Road while fire crews battled the blaze.

According to New Sharon Fire Chief Roger Foster, one man had been living in the home, but was not hurt in the fire.

The cause is under investigation.
