1932 – 2015
PLYMOUTH, MASS. — Russell Lovaas, 83, a resident of Carver, Mass., died Tuesday morning, Nov. 24, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, Mass.
Born in Livermore Falls Sept. 5, 1932, he was the son of Martin and Dagny (Rasmussen) Lovaas. A 1950 graduate of Livermore Falls High School and a 1954 graduate of the University of Maine in Orono, he served in the U.S. Army from 1954 through 1956, during the Korean War.
Russell was a regional vice president of the Travelers Insurance Company, serving 38 years in Group Department Field Sales Operations prior to retiring in 1991. He was also a Conservation Commission member for the town of Carver, Mass., actively serving from 2004 to 2014.
A lover of golf, fishing, boating and cribbage, more than anything else he enjoyed being with his family, and with his ever-present “PMA”, always looking for and finding the bright spot in everyone and every day.
He was the loving husband of 28 years to Patricia (Lyons) Lovaas; devoted father of Johanna and her husband, Paul Gallo, of Marblehead, Mass.; Russell and his wife, Kathy, of Grant, Fla.; Pamela of Paxton, Mass.; and Peter and his wife, Susan, of Lexington, S.C.; much-loved grandfather of Erik, Patrick (Melissa) and Evan Gallo; Melissa (Frank) Maldonado, Justin Smith, Jenna (Eric) Monette, Emily Lovaas-McGloine; and Nicholas, Alex and Rachel Lovaas; great-grandfather of Halle, Hayden and Jamison Gallo, Matteo and Ava Mastrototaro, Frank and Azlen Maldonado, and Dylan and Ella Monette; brother-in-law of Priscilla Lovaas, Christina Lyons, Kathleen (Michael) Cocorochio, James (Cindy) Lyons, Regina (Robert) Russell and Charles (Norma) Lyons.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Richard Lovaas of South Portland.
