1923 – 2015
RUMFORD — Lucien J. Arsenault, 92, of Maple Street, Rumford, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 3, at Rumford Hospital with loving family at his side.
He was born in Rumford on March 22, 1923, a son of John and Mary (Richard) Arsenault.
Lucien was educated in local schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served during World War II. Lucien was employed for over 40 years with the Rumford Paper Mill. He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.
Lucien was a life member and past commander of the VFW. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post No. 24, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine. He was a member of the Webb River Sportsmen’s Club.
Lucien enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his harmonica and spoons and spending time in Prince Edward Island.
Surviving are his companion, Doris Swett of Rumford; a sister, Therese Giambattista; a godchild and niece, Bertha Kelley of Rumford; a grandson, Jonathan S. Young and companion, Deborah Stover, of Mexico; two great-granddaughters, Ashlynn Young and Destiny Young; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Vera; a daughter, Gail Young; brothers, Agappe, Clarence, Edgar and Albert; and sisters, Sr. Mary Philbert and Rita Arsenault.
