LEWISTON — The Calvary United Methodist Church is offering several special events that are open to all during December.

The Rev. Annie Baker-Streevy will lead a book study on the book “Sent” from 11 a.m.m to noon on Mondays. “Sent” examines why Jesus came, and how people can go out into the world to spread His message of love.

The Sunday morning sermon series will further reflect upon thoughts from the book. Sunday services are at 10:30 a.m. with Bible study at 9 a.m. Faith Village for children is also at 10:30 a.m.

At 7:00pm on the Wednesdays in December preceding Christmas,

The church will offer a Taize-style Advent Prayer Service at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays preceding Christmas, featuring the singing of short, easily learned meditative songs, with prayers and time for reflection.

The public is welcome to drop in during these special services. Calvary UMC is located downtown at 59 Sabattus St., “on the triangle” of Sabattus, Bartlett and College Streets.

Calvary is a Reconciling Church where all people are welcome to seek, serve and celebrate God.
