LEWISTON — Community members may participate in a French sing-along session at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at d’Youville Pavilion Chapel at 102 Campus Ave.
Aliette Couturier, Jacynthe Jacques and friends will lead attendees in singing a selection of local Franco holiday favorites such as “Il Est Ne” and “Minuit Chretien.” Providing musical accompaniment will be pianist Jeannette Gregoire.
“This very special December Sing-Along has become a favorite local event,” said Couturier. “We’re glad to bring music of the season to the residents of d’Youville Pavillion and to the rest of the community. All are welcome — whether they are Franco or not — to come join the fun. Song books are provided so that even those who are not familiar with the songs or less-than-fluent in French can easily follow along.”
Organized in 2010 by the Maine Folque Co-op in collaboration with USM LAC’s Franco-American Collection, the monthly series of song sessions takes place from September through June, usually at the college, with occasional forays out to local retirement communities and nursing homes.
Admission is free to all.
