Boys’ hockey

Lewiston 13, Portland/Deering 0

PORTLAND — Jeromey Rancourt and Dustin Larochelle each registered a hat trick on Thursday as Lewiston skated to a 13-0 rout over Portland/Deering in boys’ hockey action. 

Alex Robert chipped in for the Blue Devils (1-0) with two goals, while single tallies from Kyle Morin, Brad McClellan, Griffin Wade, Joe Bisson and Alex Rivet completed the scoring. Cole Ouellette also contributed three assists. 

Jacob Strout made seven saves to preserve the shutout.

Madison 70, St. Dom’s 24

MADISON — After sprinting out to a 28-point advantage in the first frame, Madison left it in high gear and sped away to post a 70-24 victory over St. Dom’s in MVC boys’ basketball action on Thursday. 

Ty Green led the Bulldogs (3-0) with 20 points, while Chase Malloy tallied 16 and Mitch Jarvais added 12. 

Cam Jalbert led the Saints (0-3) with seven points, while Sam Rines and Riley Volpe each added five. 

Buckfield 60, Seacoast Christian 34

BUCKFIELD — Jake Kraske ignited a 22-7 run in the first quarter as Buckfield raced away from Seacoast Christian to post a 60-34 win in boys’ basketball on Thursday.

Kraske scored 15 of his 22 points during the key first frame. Aaron Rowe and Alex Brough chipped in for the Bucks (1-2) with eight points each, while Jake Hackett and Hunter Wiley each added six. 

Seacoast Christian (0-1) was paced by Caleb LaCroix with 14 points, the only player to reach double figures. 

Girls’ basketball

Mountain Valley 58, Winthrop 17

WINTHROP — Mountain Valley overpowered Winthrop in MVC girls’ basketball on Thursday, hustling to a 58-17 victory after building a big early lead. 

Karen Flaherty led the Falcons (3-0) with 15 points, highlighted by four shots from beyond the arc. Sydney Petrie chipped in 13 points, while Emily Laubauskas added seven.

Shie Smith paced the Ramblers (0-3) with seven points, while Kathryn Ross and Katie Perkins each added three. 

Oak Hill 51, Hall-Dale 35

FARMINGDALE — Oak Hill used a 16-7 run in the fourth quarter to pull out a 51-35 victory over Hall-Dale in MVC girls’ basketball on Thursday. 

Grace Sabine led the Raiders (2-1) with 17 points, while Bri Mulherin chipped in  13. Abby Nadeau also contributed with nine points. Jamie Prue added eight. 

Dani Sweet topped the Bulldogs (1-2) with nine points, while Thea Sweet tallied seven and Kayla Johnson added six. 

Buckfield 49, Seacoast Christian 23

BUCKFIELD — Buckfield quickly built an 18-point lead in the first frame before racing away to post a 49-23 girls’ basketball win over Seascoast Christian Thursday. 

Alexis Bennett led the Bucks (1-2) with 14 points, while Alyssa Theriault chipped in 11. 

Courtney Williams set the standard for Seacoast (0-2) with 10 points. 

Monmouth 31, Carrabec 30

MONMOUTH — After building a six-point advantage in the first half, Monmouth held off a late fourth-quarter rally to edge Carrabec, 31-30, in MVC girls’ basketball on Thursday evening. 

Abbey Allen led the unbeaten Mustangs (3-0) with seven points, while Haley West tallied six and Tia Day added five.

Kate Stevens paced the Cobras (1-2) with a game-high 15 points, while Liberty Chestnut chipped in with seven.  

Dirigo 34, Lisbon 27

LISBON — Lauren Henderson poured 12 points into the net Thursday to lead Dirigo to a 34-27 victory over Lisbon in a MVC girls’ basketball tilt.

The Cougars (1-2) built a five-point advantage in the first half and kept up the pace. Jasmin Le scored seven points to lead the Greyhounds (1-2), while Bree Sautter and Kaylin Le each added six.  

Madison 53, St. Dom’s 29

MADISON — The Madison Bulldogs outscored St. Dominic Academy 24-8 in the first half on Thursday night en route to a 53-29 MVC girls’ basketball victory.

Emily Oliver had 12 points for Madison (3-0). Kayla Bess added 10. Erin Whalen hit the glass hard, pulling in 14 rebounds to go along with her five points.

Allie Veinote sank four 3-pointers for 12 points to spark St. Dom’s (1-2). Chloe Dwinell had seven points and Caroline Gastonguay added six.
