Oxford Hills 77, Cheverus 63
PARIS — It was another big game for Andrew Fleming on Tuesday night. The Oxford Hills senior dropped in 34 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a 77-63 victory over previously undefeated Cheverus in Class AA boys’ basketball action.
He was stopped one point shy of reaching his 1,000 career point. Oxford Hills (5-1) won’t play again until Dec. 30, when it travels to Augusta Civic Center to face Cony.
Matt Fleming dropped in 15 points for the Vikings. Jake Beauchesne and Chris St. Pierre each finished with 10.
Cheverus was led by Austin Boudreau who had 24 points to lead the Stags (5-1) with 24 points. Jack Casale chipped in with 18 points. Jesse Matthews contributed 11.
Deering 69, Lewiston 39
PORTLAND — Deering jumped out to a nine-point lead in the first stanza and raced away to post a 69-39 romp over Lewiston in a boys’ basketball matchup Tuesday.
Anthony Lobor led the undefeated Rams (6-0) with 11 points, while Ben Williams and Malik White each added 10.
The Blue Devils (1-5) were paced by Mohamedsediq Hussein with nine points, while Jordan Palmer chipped in eight.
Brunswick 61, Leavitt 41
BRUNSWICK — Brunswick raced out to a 17-point halftime lead and cruised past Leavitt, 61-41, in boys’ basketball Tuesday night.
Thomas Hanson led the Dragons (5-1) with 15 points. Caleb Cost finished with 14. Josh Dorr provided 10.
D’Andre James had a strong game for the Hornets (0-6) with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Max Green and Eli Calder each had seven.
Girls’ basketball
Monmouth 58, St. Dom’s 25
MONMOUTH — After building a quick 10-point advantage in the first quarter, Monmouth carried a 30-12 lead into halftime and cruised to a 58-25 rout over St. Dom’s in a pre-holiday girls’ basketball matchup Tuesday.
Sidney Wilson led the Mustangs (5-1) with 16 points, while Tia Day tallied 12 and Hannah Anderson added nine.
The Saints (3-3) were paced by Chloe Dwinell with seven points, while Maddy Leslie, Allie Veinote and Abby Castonguay each added four.
Dirigo 62, Winthrop 22
DIXFIELD — Sabrina Daoud led a well-balanced attack by Dirigo as they overpowered Winthrop 62-22 in a MVC girls’ tilt Tuesday.
Daoud finished with an impressive 25 points, eight steals and seven rebounds. Emma Lueders chipped in for the Cougars (4-3) with 12 points, nine assists, five rebounds and four steals, while Olivia Noyes netted 10 points and pulled down five rebounds.
The Ramblers (0-7) were paced by Adlin Chaparin with 13 points.
Brunswick 49, Leavitt 42
TURNER — Sabrina Armstrong sparked a strong second-half rally as Brunswick hustled to a 49-42 victory over Leavitt in a Class A South girls’ tilt on Tuesday.
Charlotte MacMillan led the Dragons (2-4) with 16 points. Armstrong added 13.
Sophie Gilbert paced the Hornets (2-4) with 15.
Edward Little 54, Portland 29
AUBURN — Edward Little posted a convincing 54-29 victory over Portland in a Class AA girls’ basketball tilt Tuesday.
Jordyn Reynolds led the Red Eddies (5-1) with 19 points, while Karli Stubbs tallied 16 and Emily Jacques added 11.
The winless Rams (0-6) were led by Sierra Vernum and Regan Brown with eight points apiece.
Messalonskee 58, Mt. Blue 40
OAKLAND — Sophia Holmes drained 24 points Tuesday evening as Messalonskee raced away from Mt. Blue, 58-40, in girls’ basketball.
Allyssa Turner chipped in for the Eagles (5-1) with 14 points, while Cassidy Baker added 10. Caitlin Kane paced the Cougars (2-4) with 15. Eryn Doiron chipped in eight.
Lisbon 50, Telstar 32
BETHEL — Forward Kaylin Le drained 17 points to lead Lisbon to a 50-32 victory over Telstar in MVC girls’ basketball action Tuesday afternoon.
The Greyhounds (4-3) were strong on defense, preventing the Rebels (0-7) from getting a running game going. Jasmin Le made three field goals from beyond the arc to contribute nine points for Lisbon.
Senior guard Hayley Peterson led the Telstar squad with 10 points.
Lewiston 49, Deering 38
LEWISTON — Junior guard Morgan Eliasen and sophomore forward Victoria Harris posted identical game-leading 16 points each as Lewiston catapulted from an 11-point deficit early for a 49-38 triumph in girls’ basketball action Tuesday afternoon.
The Rams (4-2) jumped out to an 11-0 lead. Junior forward Amanda Brett recorded a team-high 13 points for Deering. The Blue Devils (4-2) hit 70 percent from the foul line, while Eliasen and Harris collected 11 rebounds each for Lewiston in the winning effort.
Carrabec 37, Oak Hill 24
SALEM — Bailey Dunphy recorded a team-leading 13 points to position Carrabec for a 37-24 victory over Oak Hill in girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.
The Cobras (3-3) capitalized on a 16-11 hafltime lead with a six-point spread in the third quarter. Mikayla Williette and Kate Stevens contributed another eight points apiece for Carrabec.
Bri Mulherin provided the Raiders (4-3) with a game-high 14 points in the losing effort.
Gray-New Gloucester 59, Old Orchard Beach 22
OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Junior guard Grace Kariotis tabulated 13 points as Gray-New Gloucester coasted to a 59-22 victory over Old Orchard Beach in girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.
The Patriots (5-1) blitzed to a 19-4 opening quarter. Junior forward Isabelle Detroy contributed nine points, six steals and five rebounds for Gray-New Gloucester.
Senior center Peyton Feitz made four field goals to lead the Seagulls (1-5) with eight points.
Girls’ hockey
Brunswick 7, Edward Little-Leavitt-Poland 6
BRUNSWICK — Freshman center Jenna Brooks netted four goals and assisted three as Brunswick clipped Edward Little-Leavitt-Poland 7-6 in girls’ hockey Tuesday evening.
The Dragons (5-3) were powered by a line of three freshmen, who scored all seven goals. Rayna Sage contributed two goals, while Beth Labbe added one for Brunswick.
Center Mariah Vaillancourt notched a hat trick for the Red Hornets.
