JAY — One of two globes on the town’s World War II memorial on Main Street was removed and smashed Monday night, according to Jay Police Sgt. Russell Adams.
A pedestrian reported the vandalism to police at 2:41 a.m. Tuesday after finding the round, plastic globe that covers a light on the memorial on the ground, he said.
Police were waiting to see how much a replacement would cost or if the town has an extra globe, he said. The memorial is next to the St. Rose of Lima church, he said.
