LIVERMORE — Selectpersons on Monday approved a policy and form for people to file complaints with town officials. The policy does not apply to emergencies or road, building or property issues.

Administrative Assistant Carrie Castonguay said the town had no official policy or form for complaints.

The policy provides a way for complaints to be handled formally and save town staff time. Complaints must be in writing and signed, and submitted to the Town Office in person, by mail or by email.

The policy states that people with non-employee concerns or complaints are invited to attend selectboard meetings to explain them. However, the chairman reserves the right to limit time for comments.

Selectperson Timothy Kachnovich said having a policy makes everything more formal and helps with tracking complaints.

Selectperson Megan Dion said it would take the responsibility off staff and they wouldn’t have to remember details.

Treasurer Amy Byron said, “It’s a good idea.”

Copies of the policy and form are available at the Town Office. After next week, they will be posted on the town’s website for people to download.
