FREEPORT — After building a six-point advantage in the first frame, Gray-New Gloucester used a 14-8 second quarter run to pull away and post a 50-39 win over Freeport in a girls’ basketball tilt Wednesday.

Skye Conley led the Patriots (6-1) with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Grace Kariotis and Ashley Jordan each tallied 13 points.

Freeport (4-2) was paced by Kayla Belanger with a 12-point effort, while Jessie Driscoll chipped in with eight points.

Edward Little 41, Morse 30

BATH — Emily Jacques led a powerful two-player attack as Edward Little hustled to a 41-30 mid-season victory over Morse in girls’ hoops action Wednesday.

Jacques led the Red Eddies (6-1) with 20 points, while Karli Stubbs chipped in with 13 points.

The Shipbuilders (4-3) were led by Signe Ostergard with nine points, while Emma Harrington added eight.

Monmouth 59, Mt. Abram 20

SALEM — Tia Day led a well-balanced attack Wednesday as Monmouth hustled to a 59-20 rout over Mt. Abram in a Class A South girls’ basketball matchup.

Day finished with 14 points for the Mustangs (6-1), while Hannah Anderson chipped in with 11 points.

The Roadrunners (1-7) were paced by freshman sensation Summer Ross with a solid 10-point performance.

Brunswick 51, Lewiston 38

BRUNSWICK — Adrianna White ignited a 23-11 fourth-quarter run for Brunswick as the Dragons raced away to post a 51-38 victory over Lewiston on Wednesday evening.

White finished with 15 points for the Dragons (3-4), including six in that key final frame. Sabrina Armstrong also contributed with 12 points, including a pair of shots from beyond the arc.

The Blue Devils (4-3) were paced by Skylar Gaudette with a solid 12-point effort, while Morgan Eliasen tallied 10 points and Victoria Harris added nine.

St. Dom’s 48, Hall-Dale 40

AUBURN — St. Dom’s built enough of a lead to sustain a 12-5 rally in the third quarter and hung on to post a 48-40 victory over Hasll-Dale in a girls’ tilt Wednesday.

Chloe Dwinel led the Saints (4-3) with 13 points, while Allie Veinote chipped in with 12. Abby Castonguay also contributed with a nine-point effort.

Kayla Johnson led the struggling Bulldogs (2-6) with 14 points, while Dani Sweet chipped in with eight.

Leavitt 74, Maranacook 25

TURNER — Sophomore guard Sophia Gilbert scored a game-high 20 points as Leavitt soared to a 74-25 victory over Maranacook in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Hornets (3-4) raced out to a 16-1 first quarter lead. Also scoring in double digits were junior guard Allie Belaire with 18 and senior forward Chantel Eells with 14 points.

The Black Bears (0-7) were paced by senior forward Jana Elwell and freshman Grace Despres with six points apiece.

Monmouth 61, Mt. Abram 42

SALEM — Nick Menice sparked a 21-10 run in the fourth quarter as Monmouth cruised to a 61-42 MVC win over Mt. Abram Wednesday in boys’ basketball action.

Menice finished with 18 points for the Mustangs (4-3), including six in that key fourth stanza. Luke Thomes also poured 18 points into the net in an effective two-player attack.

Dan Luce led the struggling Roadrunners (1-7) with a game-high 19 points, while Trevor Chaput chipped in with 12.

Carrabec 58, Telstar 52 (OT)

BETHEL — Junior Dustin Crawford provided most of the offensive support with 33 points as Carrabec took a 58-52 tilt in overtime in boys’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

The Rebels rallied for a 22-14 margin in the fourth quarter to force overtime. But, due to foul trouble succumbed to a 7-1 margin in the overtime frame.

Sophomore forward Jarrett Bean recorded a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds for Telstar.

Lewiston 62, Brunswick 57

LEWISTON — Abdinasir Issack scored 22 points and Sediq Hussein was right behind him with 21 as Lewiston dropped Brunswick 62-57 in a boys’ basketball game Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (2-5) took a slim 30-29 lead at halftime, but the teams battled right down to the wire.

For Brunswick, Josh Door scored 16 points and Caleb Cost threw in 20.

Boothbay 60, Lisbon 53

BOOTHBAY — The Boothbay Seagulls held on despite a late charge by the Lisbon Greyhounds in the 60-53 win in an MVC boys’ basketball contest.

The Greyhounds outscored the Seagulls 21-14 in the fourth quarter.

Boothbay (6-2) was paced by Kyle Ames and Jacob Leonard who each had 12 points. Abel Bryer had a double-double as he put home 10 points and 16 rebounds in the victory.

Tyrese Joseph led all scorers with 19 points as Lisbon falls to 4-4 on the season. Noah Carter chipped in with 13 points while Sautter had 11.

Maranacook 63, Leavitt 54

READFIELD — The Maranacook Black Bears pulled away in the second half in their 63-54 victory over the Leavitt Hornets in a boys’ KVAC basketball tilt.

The Hornets had a 28-25 lead at the half before the Black Bears outscored them 38-26 in the second half.

Kent Mohlar dropped in 22 points to lead Maranacook (6-1) while Kyle Wilbur had 20 points.

Maxwell Green paced the Hornets (0-7) with 23 points while D’Andre James and Eli Calder each had 11 points.

Madison 52, Mountain Valley 27

MADISON — Junior forward Mitch Jarvis drained a game-high 18 points and eight rebounds to lead Madison to a 52-27 victory over Mountain Valley in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs (6-2) controlled the ball for a well executed inside game. Senior guard Chase Malloy contributed 16 points and seven rebounds.

Senior forward Crutis Steele led the Falcons (1-7) with four field goals for a team-leading eight points in the losing effort.

Edward Little 62, Morse 56

AUBURN — Junior guard Samatar Iman poured in a team-leading 23 points to lead Edward Little to a 62-56 victory over Morse in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Red Eddies (2-5) led by double digits for much of the game. But senior guard Keegan Donough erupted for 14 of his 31 game points in the fourth quarter to cut the Shipbuilders (2-5) deficit to within two at one point.

Junior guard Jarod Norcross-Plourde pitched in with 18 points as Edward Little held on down the stretch.

Gray-New Gloucester 56, Freeport 50

FREEPORT — Senior forward Zack Haskell netted a game-high 23 points to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 56-50 victory over Freeport in boys’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

Haskell tallied nine points in the fourth quarter for the Patriots (2-5) to help put the game away for Gray-New Gloucester.

John Henry contributed 12 points, while John Maritn added 11 for the Patriots.

Senior forward Jack Davenport recorded a team-leading 16 points for the Falcons (2-5) in the losing effort.

Leavitt/Edward Little/Poland 3, Mt. Ararat/Morse 1

AUBURN — Junior forward Mariah Vaillancourt walked the puck out of the corner, past a couple of defenders and through the goalie to net the eventual game-clincher at 9:54 of the second period as Leavitt/Edward Little/Poland notched a 3-1 victory over Mt. Ararat/Morse in girls’ ice hockey action Wednesday evening.

The Red Hornets (6-4-2) found the back of the net on three occasions in the second period.

Junior forwrad Isabel Burch tallied the lone Eagles’ (1-11) goal in the first period.

Goalie Sydney Mclure made an impressive 40 saves for Mt. Ararat/Morse, while goalies Sarah Hammond and Kristen Jordan combined for eight saves for Leavitt/Edward Little/Poland.

Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill 5, Winslow/Erskine 1

WINSLOW — Corinne Laberge and Bree Bergeron scored two goals each as Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill coasted to a 5-1 victory over Winslow/Erskine in girls’ ice hockey action Wednesday evening.

Laberge and Bergeron traded a goal and an assist each as the Devils (6-2-1) took a 2-0 lead in he first period.

Brittany Maison converted a relay from Bailey Robbins at the 9:20 mark of the second period to put the Raiders (1-8) on the board.

Goalie Kiana Richards made 33 saves for Winslow-Erskine, while goalie Meagan Gosselin turned back 12 shots to earn the win in net for Lewiston-Monmouth-Oak Hill.

Edward Little 4, Lawrence/Skowhegan 2

SKOWHEGAN — Junior forward Cody Woodward netted a pair of goals to lead Edward Little to a 4-2 victory over Lawrence/Skowhegan in boys’ ice hockey action Wednesday evening.

The Red Eddies (4-3) had a three-goal lead when the Bandits (0-4) bounced back with a pair of short-handed goals in the third period.

The Red Eddies found the empty net in the final seconds.

Senior defenseman Sam Haber had a solid defense for the Bandits and contributed an assist on offense.

Goalie Curtis Martin made 27 saves for Lawrence-Skowegan, while goalie Devin Dumont repelled 19 to earn the win in net for Edward Little.
